Pepe HabichuelaGranada, 1944. Sadece 20’li yaşlarında Madrid’in Torre Bermejas’ında çalışıyordu.
Enrique Morente’nin 60’lardaki "Homenaje a D. Antonio Chacón" and "Despegando” gibi yenilikçi kayıtlarında mükemmel bir eşlikçi oldu. Amerikalı trompetçi Don Cherry’yle birlikte de çaldılar. Pepe Habichuela Granada, 1944. At just twenty he was working in Madrid’s Torre Bermejas. It was Pepe and those of his generation, Paco de Lucía, Camarón, Morente, Sanlúcar, who made possible the renovation that took place in the sixties opening the way for the "young flamencos". He played for Valderrama, Camarón and Morente. He learned from Sabicas and Mario Escudero, always adding the personal touch of his very flamenco family, and managed to pass this knowledge on to his children and nephews (Ketama), as well as to dozens of young flamenco artists such as Raimundo Amador and José Soto "Sorderita". He was the perfect accompanist for the innovative recordings of Enrique Morente in the sixties: "Homenaje a D. Antonio Chacón" and "Despegando". He played alongside the American trumpet-player Don Cherry who said of him: "His guitar sounds of wood... it’s like a tree crying". In 2000 the British-Indian musician Nithin Sawhney invited him to take part in a project called "Indica Brasilica" and he participated in a series of concerts in Belgium and Holland. In that group he met Chandru who requested his participation in an important concert in London’s Barbican Center auditorium together with the Strings of India orchestra.
